Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
In a world where shipping and transportation are integral to countless businesses and individual lives, ensuring the safety and security of your cargo is paramount. SGT Auto Transport’s newly introduced contingency cargo insurance is a game-changer, promising to shield your shipments from unexpected mishaps and uncertainties.
Let’s delve into this innovative solution, designed to provide peace of mind and protect your valuable cargo during its journey.
What is Cargo Insurance in the World of Auto Transport?
Auto transport companies are legally obliged to provide basic liability coverage. This cargo insurance should cover any damage caused during the car shipping process after you’ve paid the insurance deductible. Depending on the carrier, the terms and amount of coverage will vary.
There are occasions when a carrier’s insurance falls short of the mark and the insurance company denies a damage claim that’s otherwise valid. This is the main reason why we’ve decided to introduce our own contingency cargo insurance.
What is Contingency Cargo Insurance?
Contingency cargo insurance comes into play when a carrier’s insurance company denies a damage claim a customer makes. This additional security brings peace of mind for all our customers.
How Does it Work?
In simple terms, if a carrier’s insurance provider denies a damage claim that is otherwise valid, SGT Auto Transport can submit the case to its own insurance provider. They will independently investigate the damage claim.
If they determine that the claim is valid/legitimate, the insurance company will cover the expenses. This serves as an additional layer of protection for your vehicle during the shipping process. The insurance covers up to $250,000 in damages.
You’re probably wondering whether this additional contingency cargo insurance coverage means shipping your car will cost more. The good news is that our additional insurance is already included in all of our quotes and bookings. It’s also available from the 30th October, 2023 onwards.
