We pick up your vehicle

Your assigned military car shipper will contact you a few hours before your scheduled pick-up time. They need to check if someone is available to release the vehicle and confirm that your location is suitable for large commercial vehicles. Don’t worry if it’s not because they can arrange another more suitable location. Perhaps there’s a wider street nearby, a parking lot where you can meet, or possibly where you work. You can also nominate a third-party to release your vehicle for you, for example, a neighbor, friend, relative, or work colleague.

At the time of your pick-up, both you and the driver have to carefully inspect your vehicle for any existing damage. You have to record this on the Bill of Lading, which you then have to sign. This is a very important document, and you’ll get a copy for safe keeping.

The carrier will conscientiously load your vehicle onto the trailer, and you can say your goodbyes. At any stage of your vehicle's journey, if you want to check on its progress, you can contact the driver. We can also arrange regular updates by phone, Live Chat, or email.

You receive your vehicle

Before you know it, you’ll be receiving a call to let you know your vehicle is almost home. You’ll get a few hours notice, so you can make sure you’re home. If you’re not available to accept delivery of your car at that time, you can nominate a friend, neighbor, relative, or colleague to accept delivery on your behalf. They do, however, have to be at least 18 years of age.

Once the military car shippers have delivered your car, the final step is to inspect your vehicle, to make sure everything is in order, before signing the Bill of Lading to accept delivery of your car. You also make the final payment, if you opted for the Discounted Cash Price. You can pay in cash, with a cashier’s check, or money order.

How does the military car shipping program work?

Having all the necessary documents in order and current will make your military relocation less stressful. You will need the following:

Application for DITY Move and Counseling Checklist: DD 2278
A copy of your PCS travel orders
2 x certified weight tickets: one is for the gross/full wright and one is for the empty/tare weight
A copy of your paid rental agreement

Can personal items be shipped as part of your military car shipping service?

You can ship up to 100 lbs of personal items in the trunk or cargo area of the vehicle being shipped. you must secure the items in a single box or suitcase. However, if your vehicle is being shipped to/from Hawaii, you cannot ship personal items inside the vehicle. You also need to be aware that the military car shippers cargo insurance does not cover personal items.
