The vehicle shipping carrier assigned to you will get in touch a few hours before the scheduled pick-up time. This is to confirm the details of your pick-up and check that the location is accessible for large commercial vehicles. Don’t stress if this isn’t the case because they can arrange a more suitable location. Meet the carrier in a parking lot, a nearby street that’s wider, or where you work if necessary. They are also getting in touch to check someone will be available to release the vehicle. Don’t worry if you can’t be there because you can nominate a third-party to act on your behalf, such as a neighbor, friend, relative, or work colleague.

Before they load your vehicle onto the trailer, you first have to examine it, along with the driver. This is to check for any existing damage and record it on the Bill of Lading. You then sign this important document and you get a copy to keep somewhere safe.

You receive your vehicle

It won’t be long before you’ll be receiving another phone call to let you know your vehicle is almost home. You’ll be notified a few hours in advance of delivery, so you can make sure you’re available. If you will be otherwise engaged, you can nominate a third-party to accept delivery on your behalf. They do, however, have to be 18 years old or over. Consider asking a neighbor, acquaintance, colleague, friend, or family member.

When your car is delivered, you get another chance to closely inspect it, just to make sure everything’s in order. The last part of the process is to sign the Bill of Lading to accept delivery of your car. Those of you who opted for the Discounted Cash Price also have to pay the balance in cash, cashier’s check, or money order.
